I completed several value studies, first to determine my desired point of view and then to establish value, and understand how to convert it into color during the water color studies. The watercolor studies add temperature, light source, and hue in order for me to better understand how to apply the color triad. I completed several different watercolor studies based off of my various different points of view and came up with an array of different techniques as to how I could apply color to the objects. Finally, I picked my favorite composition based off of my value studies and watercolor studies and started my final painting. I played down the base colors of my objects with mineral spirits first, avoiding blending because this is just the blocking in stage. I then went on to adjust the colors as I saw necessary, based on how the relationship of those colors change when placed next to other colors. I adjusted my surface several times, for example, because it looked blue against the yellow lemon. I wanted it to read as white, so I made the hue a little more yellow. I did this process with my other objects and my shadows as well. Finally, I made small adjustments to my painting in order to get it to look as close to the objects I was painting as possible.
